He was a western reporter in the Reich at the time, so he had access to different viewpoints on whatever events of the day. He talks in his book about his great sense of uncertainty regarding what was actually going on. He sensed he couldn't believe German propaganda, but the insistence of it left him feeling unsure—of course, Mr. Shirer doesn't apply this level of criticism to news/propaganda from his home country. This is what we are seeing with climate hysteria for, really, my whole life: a constant drumbeat of doom and gloom that is presented in the absolute most ham-handed way possible.
