Whether provided by church or state, many people prefer the Official Truth because it relieves them of the burden of thinking so that they can spend their time with more important matters, such as watching Netflix and drinking beer.

The Expertocracy knows how to use the shield of science, as in "Trust the science." If a scientist says it, or better yet a group of scientists, then of course it must be true. After all, scientists are neutral and dispassionate thinking machines, totally uninfluenced by financial, personal or ideological considerations.

The Propaganda Environment is just another environment where 'survival of the fittest' continues to apply. The people that survive this situation will be those will perpetuate their immunity to propaganda to their offspring and so on until people not longer believe anything with which they have not had direct experience.
