The statue of Robert E. Lee that caused controversy in Charlottesville a few years ago was supposed to go into a museum. Instead, in the dead of night, it was secretly melted down and destroyed. Our government imagines that if all artifacts and books about the American Civil War are destroyed, racism will disappear and we will forget our own history.
When it comes to colonization, we only have to look at the history of Rwanda and South Africa to see how colonization brought civilization to a race that never figured out how to invent wheels.
FWIW, I heard that the Beatles' manager, Brian Epstein, hired young girls to scream at Beatles' concerts when the band was just starting up. After a while the shills were no longer needed, as the squealing contagion took hold.
A more concise way of saying accuse your opponent of what you yourself are doing.
> My dear readers, somebody’s, maybe even yours, and with the blessing my own, beliefs are always imposed. Imposed beliefs are, of course, what we call “the law”, de jure and de facto—nowadays mostly de facto.
Exactly.
p1: Those who call for decolonizing want to remove ideas they find offensive
p2: Those who call for decolonizing want to replace removed ideas with ideas they agree with
∴ Therefore, those who call for decolonizing themselves colonizers who want to impose their own beliefs, not decolonize.
This is the kind of thing I was noticing the other day when this woman was arguing that because she didn't agree with the Supreme court defending the 2nd amendment there needed to be "balance". The quiet part she did not say out loud is that this "balance" is just her wanting Supreme court judges that rule in her anti-gun lobby favor. If she got her way it would not be a balance at all... just something in the other direction.
> Decolonisation of the curriculum had its origins in the humanities
And it should have STOPPED there had somebody been smart enough to realize the consequences and had the courage to stand up to the mob. And now it is applying to fields like math and medicine even though they are not based on the same subjective interpretations as humanities. But the proponents of this insanity do not care about that.
Heard a story out of some school district in Ontario, don't have the source.
They were discussing what to do about their students's abysmal rate of math competency (45%).
A wise administrator decided to get a bunch of non math teachers to take a math refresher course and pass a competency test, and then get these to teach the students math--elementary or middle school level if I remember.
Think of it, fresh, new converts to the logical fun of maths teaching new minds. They may even be better at reaching the slower learners because there learning came late, and you know they currently know the material.
The policy was deemed racist. And it was decided that the students were better off not learning math from a POC than learning math, from presumably white or yellow teachers, and being deprived the role model of a black woman pretending she understands what she doesn't.
We should go back to those bloody romans!? Who do they think they were to push their stinky aquaducts, cities, libraries, baths, food, clothes on others!? We wanted to stay uncivilised you colonisers!!!

"Truth" is a white construct. Decolonialists aren't liars, they just have a different way of knowing!

Never heard that before. Thanks.
I'm going to do the same for the Stack here.
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeek
I'm a 67 year old female but I can screech like a girl. What's your pay rate?
Epstein was homosexual and would have held women in very, very, very low regard, so I hope you do not institute his measures here.
The white man's burden of colonialism was incomparably more civilized and productive than the white woman's burden of decolonization.
She takes on the task with greater zeal, however.
She'll do anything for her babies, whether surrogate or no.
Everyone's a Critic.

Make it stop.
In order to decolonise maths (and the world) you need to stop having any tests or assessments that indicate competency as a first step.
Funny how up until the 90s, we thought math was safe. But we let the philosophers define ontology as normative, and so without Reason.
Math is anathema to Subjectivists.
