My wife is involved in all kinds of Catholic committee work on a local level, here in Germany. Two days ago, she logged into a zoom conference where recent developments (Benedict's apology) were discussed. After listening for a while, I commented that this was a congregation of people that are absolutely sure that they are the good people. For connoisseurs: the verb "kotzen" was being used a lot.
On the hone hand I am very annoyed by how most people nowadays are only able to perceive and process the world (including religious matters) via one method: emotional synchronisation and committee decisions. On the other hand I am asking myself if my own outrage, e.g. in matters Covid and authoritarianism, is not a symptom of the same disease.

No need for secular authorities to attack the church, those responsible for its care are doing a magnificent job on their own.
