Last week, here in the PNW (north of Seattle), I visited a friend who lives in a house that was built in the early 1900's to encapsulate a log cabin that was built in the late-1800's. Very cool house! Outside the house there is a small grove of Sequoia trees with one that is easily 12-14 feet in diameter and at least 80 feet tall. It is absolutely enormous and had probably been there since before Columbus set sail the first time as Sequoias can live for upwards of 3000 years.
The size and awesomeness of this tree came up as a subject for discussion among some of the other guests present. Half listening, I was astonished to hear this one lady proclaim, with a great deal of authority, that she recently learned that due to 'Climate Change', it was becoming possible to start growing Sequoia trees further and further north all the way up here to where we were living!
I wasn't even part of the conversation and was still rendered speechless.
I think Spartacus summed it up nicely. Climate change was never about anything other than control and it hasn't worked, hence the steep drop off in publications.

Who cares about the weather anymore? We're all doomed if we let stochastic supremacy slip through our digital fingers. Build more datacenters.

The great thing about Climate Change hysteria is that it's very durable...To the extent that human actions are involved (dubious) or that China or Inidia are willing to take more than symbolic actions against it (not a chance), it should last until the Gulf Stream stops (it has been slowing) and the next glacial period arrives...
