For the closing days of summer, I am posting every chapter of the first edition of Everything You Believe Is Wrong. My enemies ravaged the first edition, inserting typos galore while I was distracted in the service of our people.
So many of our issues in the world boil down to one choice: God/Truth (John 14:6) or Mammon. Covid displayed for all to see that the overwhelming number of "elites" circled Mammon on the test. Truths were willingly, even happily discarded, lest their lucre be threatened in any way.
I give Hitchens a lot of credit for the state of the western world today. That was meant as an insult.
I admit using the "so's yer old codger" maneuver regularly. In my defense, logic seldom has any effect - just more frustration - and nags never let you just walk away. Anything that works is worth trying and "so's yer etc" certainly does. Is it still a fallacy if it distracts an idiot? Am I evil for winning? I await chastisement.
Some times the structure of Substack articles and comments can lead you down a rabbit hole as far from any Wonderland as one could be.
But this evening does indeed have me wondering…..if, as I stumbled into the grimly lit alleyway of this thread, I did indeed bump my head by some considerable amount?
There is a dull ache coming from somewhere. But it feels like it’s encased in a warm glow, as if radiating from a smile.
So you’re saying that if we’re arguing and you use the So’s yer Old Man fallacy that I’m supposed to stay on course!!!!? Impossible. The urge for me to point out that you’re just as big of a hypocrite as you are accusing me of being is not to be resisted. I’ll spend so much mental energy in being disciplined that I won’t even remember what we were debating.
This is the kind of thing I would expect from someone who's mama is as fat as yours.
(Leaping to Uncle Briggs’ defense): So’s yer old man.
Very interesting chapter.

But others have been as bad! Money is all you think about!
Besides giant squirrels don't exist.

I think at some point you learn not to argue with idiots.
By the way, this guy compiles memes he harvests off the interwebs. His site is pure gold.

The object in life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.

Am I smirking? I really can’t be sure.
