Risk Management and Risk Mitigation involve one of four (or five) strategies: avoidance, retention, sharing, transferring, and loss prevention & reduction. You can get stuff done with a balance of these strategies.

"Safety First" grinds risk mitigation down to "avoidance", and even that can't be used to protect you in all cases. It limits your imagination and problem solving strategies, and ultimately, it doesn't even keep you safe.

Life is a non-zero risk activity until you assume room temperature. Suck it up, buttercups.

Safety First is how parents get convinced, by doctors pimping substances from the childhood vaccine schedule, to place their charges in harms way.
