Indeed. We went awfully quick from "How does gay marriage affect you in any way?" to fighting a rearguard (and ultimately doomed) action against legalized pedophilia.

BOOM!

Exactly what I've been saying. We got here because of all the people who say, "They'll never do that..." or "Nobody is advocating for that..."

But it was always heading here. Following the legislation is how I knew it was coming. Laws don't get passed to cover things that nobody is going to do.

Leftists have a very odd formula. To a Leftist, a 50 year old millionaire dating an attractive 25 year old woman and lavishing her with luxury is creepy and essentially grooming. If that same 50 year old man put on makeup, a wig, and a sequined dress and sat a 4 year old boy on his lap while reading him a story about a "two father household" that is empowering and brave. Curious.

The vast majority of people simply refuse to draw lines in the sand any more.

They consent to being nudged, berated and forced to 'compromise', always in the direction of The Narrative. Repeat until we're in firm Clown World territory on a dozen issues, miles back from where we started in some semblance of reality.

Bang on.

Cue antiwoke conservatives invoking MLK, Jr.: "But I thought we were supposed to judge by the content of one's character, not the color of one's skin?" By sacrificing at the shrine of a sainted figure of progressivism, they reinforce the sanctity of progressivism.

Yes, this is exactly correct. The core societal belief of the west is egalitarianism, which is rooted in Paul's original transvaluation of values, and there is a ratchet effect that occurs where society becomes more and more "egalitarian" (i.e. the unequal are flattened down) over time. There is no effective way to oppose the results of egalitarianism such as transsexualism and child sex surgeries without oppose the belief in egalitarianism directly. People are fundamentally unequal and these differences cannot be bridged by government fiat no matter how much social engineering they do.

On a smaller note, this is also why the NRA has been the only effective right-wing organization in America: because it does not grant their enemies their premise that gun ownership is bad. Every other issue the right accepts their enemies's moral framework.

You go, Briggs.

Right on.

Now you're talkin', man.

It's stupefying to witness how lowly worm losers are Hell bent on losing and how they'll grovel at the feet of those who would destroy them. White flagging the battle without a fight and obsequious surrender are bad tactics.

Victory from the jaws of defeat is better!

I'm reading a lot of commentary online, in which people, whether they know it or not, are expressing the desire to go back to the good old days of the early Enlightenment when we had just thrown off the shackles of the Church; it was paradise! And in that paradise, we freed slaves and liberated women, and celebrated sodomy but only among consenting adults who were born that way and so lived in some unexplained limbo between conception and the age of consent. (We also sent a man to the moon, and it wouldn't have happened without science, and we couldn't have science without throwing off the shackles of the Church. And smartphones, don't forget those.) But, we've taken a wrong turn somewhere, and ended up with top surgery for girls and drag queens for boys. Let us return to well of the Enlightenment, and wash ourselves in its rational waters and renew the face of the earth.

First, Rights "granted" to one, makes a slave of another. The acid test is that if your "Right" makes a demand of me, be it positive or negative, it is not a Right but a privilege.

Second, Woke fails from the start in their pathologically incessant categorization of the individual into groupings. As an individual, I belong to only one group; the Human Being group.

There will never be enough letters/characters in the LGBLTonRye+ salad that could possibly place me in any group no matter how hard they try, because there never has been, is not now, and never will be another person exactly like me. I completely reject any attempt on the part of anyone to categorize me by the melatonin content of my skin, my political views, my sexual preferences, the color of the back of my neck, or by the kind of vehicle I drive. These external characteristics do not define my Self, my Being.

I am unique and one-of-a-kind. Any attempt to lump me into some grouping that is based on anything other than this single concept is demeaning and dismissive of my individuality, and I reject it utterly.

In the long run, they will fail, because any system based on repression will eventually fail. The governments of history have yet to make a rule that smart people have not figured out how to get around. The problem lies in the amount of damage these assholes will do while driving us down their path to failure. But, we don't have to go if we say no.

You have raised an interesting issue; the one of efficiency. I cannot think of a way in which resistance can be efficient. If it is passive, then it is inefficient by definition but it cannot be active because it is reactive by definition. In war, the most efficient tactic for victory is to outflank and isolate the opposing force, thereby cutting off both resupply and escape. That then enables the destruction of the opposition's seat of power.

The wildly rampaging Eye Exam ideology should be reined in. Yesterday was the time. If we as civ have plans to survive, that is.

‘Tis a flagrant misnomer, these ‘rights’ that ain’t viable without *forcing* your fella countrymen to sacrifice theirs. How’s that complicated, ffs‽ 😶 Cue Isaiah Berlin's ‘freedom to’ vs ‘freedom from’, but of course 😇

What you state here is the end point of the rabbit hole. Each person's journey is not the same. Some meander. Some tumble. Some get stuck along the way. And some have to withdraw because the pain becomes too much to bear. Only but a few ably blast their way through.

Indubitably, each arrival immediately realizes just how sparsely populated this landing place is. Sigh!

Thanks for the link to the AG article. Fascinating. I knew FDR found the weak spot in the Constitution and detonated it with the New Deal but I did not understand Landis and the intellectual underpinnings.
